The world watched in shock as the Taliban overtakes Afghanistan. This is a really hot topic for media outlets and media workers. But that is not for only mass media. Also, there are social media companies that had a problem.

People know the Taliban are so canny users of social media. Now they are the government. And now the question is coming. Should hate speeches and terrorist propaganda by the Taliban be allowed on social media platforms?

🧐 What do social media giants do?

The good news, some companies are banned Taliban accounts from their platforms. Bad news, someones are allowed.

In a nutshell, Twitter gave Taliban members permission to share from the platform. While Facebook and YouTube said they would continue to remove Taliban accounts and posts, WhatsApp announced that it had blocked Taliban supporter chat groups.

The Politico article says: “they’re trying to win over their opponents with Twitter, not just Kalashnikovs.”

I guess no company ever thought that a terrorist group could take over the state. So there is confusion. Isn’t it? 🤷‍♂️
