In Turkey, local media makes me crazy. Impossible to breathe. That’s why I don’t follow up on the political news, especially these days. Maybe I mentioned my learning English process here. So I try to read mostly English news and watch videos.

I also started a modest tweet thread for English learners like me.

Recently, I caught the news about a dog from İstanbul. At first, I thought that an animal was tortured in my country again. Unfortunately, I have faced animal abuse many times here. But I won’t let you down. I am a cat person but here is a good story for you about a dog. I proudly present BOJI!

Boji, a street dog in Istanbul. He uses the city public transportation. Yes, you heard right! He is a regular user of commuter ferries, buses, metro trains, and trams. In the above photo, He sits on a tram in Kadikoy in Istanbul. According to news, Boji travels about 20 miles around the city every day, which has been adopted by Istanbul’s residents and officials.

He has been fitted with a microchip so that he can be tracked easily and also given vaccinations to keep him and other passengers safe. He has been bringing joy to the people of Istanbul. Also me too.

Let’s look at Reuters’ coverage:

Boji has been featured in news in many international media companies. His fame has gone over the world. Boji traveled the world and found me! 😁

In Yesim Dikmen’s report Aylin Erol said:

You take the train and, suddenly, you see Boji. And look at him. He lies, just like this. You just smile and catch the moment, really. This is what Boji evokes for Istanbulites. He also reminds us that we can still enjoy Istanbul as we rush about.

Next time then!

Keep smiling!
